Pennsylvania State Police today announced the filing of assault charges against Steven A. Seaforth, who was a state trooper for 17 years before retiring on Feb. 29.

According to court documents, Seaforth, 39, found his estranged wife, 33-year-old Desiree Seaforth, in her car in the driveway of his home on Lower Bailey Drive in Oliver Township, Perry County, about 3 a.m. on May 19, 2007. He grabbed her from the car, police said, and slammed her to the gravel driveway three times.
