Reward offered for arrest of man who assaulted state trooper near Shippensburg
A reward is being offered in the search for a Shippensburg man accused of assaulting a Pennsylvania State Police trooper Sunday night in Southampton Township.
Franklin County Crime Solvers is offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to the arrest of 45-year-old Jerry Lee Ott. He is believed to be armed and in the Shippensburg area where he has friends and family, according to Pennsylvania State Police, Chambersburg.
Ott is described as 6 feet one inch tall and weighing 220 pounds.
Trooper Matthew Hudak stopped a vehicle at 10:22 p.m. Sunday in the northbound lane of I-81 just south of Exit 24 (Pa. 696), police said. Ott got out of his vehicle and ran. Hudak ran after him. Ott knocked Hudak to the ground with a blow to the head and continued to run away. Hudak was not injured, but was checked at Chambersburg Hospital.
