Enraged NYPD, FDNY unions cast Bloomberg as greedy ‘liar’ out to ‘steal’ pensions

The rank-and-file police and fire unions angrily stepped up their attacks on Mayor Bloomberg Wednesday, slamming Hizzoner as a “liar” who is trying to “steal” their pension benefits.
Using searing rhetoric unusual in its vitriol, the uniformed service unions blasted Bloomberg’s attempts to eliminate the annual $12,000 Variable Supplement Fund payout.
“The mayor of the City of New York has made statements that are completely untrue,” said Steve Cassidy, head of the Uniformed Firefighters Association. “He’s lying about the facts. What they are saying is patently false.”
“As we approach the 10th anniversary of 9/11,” Cassidy said, “Mike Bloomberg wants to say to firefighters and police officers who were there that day and didn’t die, ‘I’m going to steal money from your pocket.'”
“We did endorse him in the past election,” Lynch said, “but we’re calling him a liar today because he’s saying lies out in the public.”

Cooking with less salt must be expensive or at least require multiple cooks. How else to explain Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s outlay of $245,000 a year of taxpayers money on three chefs for Gracie Mansion?
Bloomberg, famous for his efforts to forcibly wrest the salt shaker from the hands of New Yorkers, has three chefs on staff at the official mayor’s residence. According to the New York Daily News, the longest-serving of the men in kitchen whites is Feliberto Estevez, who earns $97,000. Pastry chef Jerry Montanez, who was hired in 2007, earns $68,000, while Jose Velazquez (job unknown) is currently paid $80,000, following a $10,000 salary increase last July.
To rub salt into New Yorkers’ wounds, Bloomberg recently ordered massive across-the-board spending cuts for every city agency. It was his recommended cuts at the Sanitation Department that prompted workers to sit down on the job, rather than speed the plows, after a blizzard dumped 20 inches of snow on New York last December.
Even more galling is the fact that Bloomberg, a billionaire, doesn’t even live at Gracie Mansion, choosing instead to hang his hat at his upper posh East Side townhouse. The mayor uses the mansion exclusively as an entertainment venue.
