SCRANTON — A federal judge on Friday declined to throw out sexual discrimination and retaliation allegations a state trooper brought against fellow members of the Pennsylvania State Police.
Cpl. Carrie Ann Gula, a 39-year-old West Pittston native, was arrested in 2012 over allegations that she made up a story about her ex-boyfriend attacking her because she was jealous. A jury later acquitted Gula of all charges, but state police still fired her in September 2014 following an internal investigation.
Gula filed the lawsuit in November 2014 alleging her constitutional rights were violated and that her fellow officers engaged in malicious prosecution.
