Optimism plummets in new poll on Biden

The honeymoon is definitely over for President Joe Biden.

A majority of Americans —  nearly 53 percent — say they are not optimistic about the future of America, according to a new Convention of States Action poll conducted by The Trafalgar Group.

The poll of 1,000 likely 2022 election voters finds about 29 percent of respondents are not optimistic at all, while 24 percent say they are not very optimistic.

On the other side, just 16.6 percent say they are very optimistic, while 27 percent are somewhat optimistic.

“Americans are optimistic people. When both Republicans and Independents are tracking almost identically in registering a lack of optimism about our future—and a sizable group of Democrats feel the same way—there is a serious problem,” said Mark Meckler, president of Convention of States Action.

Meanwhile, Biden’s overall approval rating plunged 7 percentage points to 46 percent, the lowest of his presidency, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll released earlier this week.

“From Afghanistan to COVID-19 to inflation to foreign policy to basic things like education, Washington DC is failing to solve challenges, and the people are losing hope,” Meckler said. “Our founders did not design a system in which Washington is the answer. State and local governments are solving our problems, and these numbers demonstrate yet again that voters believe the best solutions are close to home.”
