As of Dec. 27, 2021, four unarmed black people have been slain by police officers since the start of the year, according to the Washington Post. The Post’s “unarmed” category includes violently resisting crime suspects.

BRADLEY, Ill. (WLS) — Two suspects in a motel shooting that killed a Bradley police sergeant and wounded her partner were taken into custody Friday.
The two suspects had been on the run after Sergeant Marlene Rittmanic was killed and her partner, Tyler Bailey, was critically wounded as they responded to a call at a Comfort Inn Wednesday night.
The first suspect, Darius D. Sullivan, was arrested in North Manchester, Indiana Friday morning, authorities said.
