Mexican cartel member took aim at Texas DPS helicopter with his AK-47 leading to shoot-out that killed five

The site where the DPS helicopter was threatened on Wednesday is the same area where alleged cartel members have shot at US Border Patrol from across the river over the past few months, most recently in February. No one was injured in that incident.

Texas Gov Greg Abbott, a Republican, retweeted the DPS helicopter video and pointed a finger of blame at President Joe Biden’s immigration policies.

‘Biden’s open border policies embolden the cartels to traffick [sic] women, children, & drugs & attack our law enforcement,’ Abbott tweeted. ‘God bless @TxDPS for putting their lives at risk to keep us safe.’

A Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter on Wednesday was patrolling the Rio Grande Valley in Texas, when it spotted a suspected drug cartel member aiming an AK-47 at the aircraft.
