Pennlive demands answers to why a 104-year-old fire company that was closed amid racism claims is still having their annual free family picnic and games for kids on June 9 at Cibort Park, Dauphin County. Fire company representatives did not respond to Pennlive’s demands for answers. A reporter then visited their social club, which was serving three patrons, but still no answers. During the course of Pennlive’s investigation they also discovered that a member put up a banner – “large enough that cars passing can read the sign” advertising the free family picnic but: “He didn’t have a permit to put it there, but one is required because of its size.”
‘Racial discrimination’ complaint prompts Swatara Township to shut down volunteer firehouse

Swatara Township commissioners Wednesday night announced they were shutting down a volunteer fire house immediately due to “serious allegations,” that needed to be investigated.

At Wednesday night’s meeting, Commissioner Michael Tuckey said he disagreed with the decision and would have favored waiting until the conclusion of the investigation to take action.
“Is there such a thing as innocent until proven guilty?” he said. “I think it’s a huge mistake and I’m just awfully disappointed…The last thing we need to do is shut down a fire house.”
